ABOUT OUR SCHOOL

         Nav Jeevan School for the Hearing Impaired established by the Samaritan Sisters in 2005. Managed and administered by Premdhara Charitable Society and  enthusiasm of Rev. Sr. Clementina and Sr. Tessy John. The school has recognized by C.G. government on 27th  Oct. 2006.The school is well equipped with all facilities. Student take part in various cultural and sports activities. Educational facilities from preprimary to 10th standard. The total strength of our school is 70-80 children. Separated hostel facilities is available for boys and girls.

      The subject covered are speech therapy hearing and breathing exercise along with the normal subjects. This proves very useful in learning the conversational language. It also helps in enriching the vocabulary and speaking  the language naturally.

          Hearing exercises include making use of the child’s hearing ability to respond to a sound with the help of hearing aid such as clapping, ringing bell, etc.

The child is taught to observe the lip and tongue movements while uttering each word. Simultaneously using headphone and feeling the vibrations. Students can be taught the voice modulation and rhythm. Simultaneously using a group hearing aid.

          Breathing exercise :- the hearing impaired children can not utter word or sentence completely due to lake of control over breathing. To develop the speech ability the children are asked to do some breathing exercises like making bubbles of soap water, drinking water making use of straw, blowing the cotton, picking of peas with the help of a straw, blow the candle etc…

​

          Along with academic studies the children are encouraged to developed other skills like handicraft, drawing, dance , drama, painting, candle making etc.. professional courses like typing and computer are also available for the children.

​

          Other recreational activities like study tours, parents – teachers workshop as well as the celebrations of festivals give immense joy of everybody. The students participate in various competitions and win prizes too.

​

          Many students from our school have achieved success in different fields and are settled in their lives. The parents who were demoralized because of the disabled child fighting all the obstacles, putting their heart and soul in their child’s growth are now very happy.

​

          As a result of the persistent efforts of the parents, perseverance and hard work of the children, impeccable guidance of the teachers are in valuable support of the school, all these hearing impaired children have succeeded in their lives, living a happy life with self-respect. This is the real testimony of the teacher’s hard work, making them feel that all their hard work, sacrifice, perseverance, patience have been paid off. The rehabilitation of these children having succeeded and settled in their lives, gives their teachers a true sense of satisfaction.
